Baking for Better

Our goal at Argos is to help meet the needs of the un-housed and housing insecure through baking and community. While currently a one-woman show, we seek to build a community that is passionate about feeding both bodies and souls, locally and beyond.

“Argos” is the name of Odysseus’ watchful dog, as told in Homer’s Odyssey. After years of wandering, Odysseus finally returns home, disguised as a stranger and a beggar. No one recognizes who he is, except for Argos. At Argos Baking Co., our mission is to recognize the dignity in every stranger and wanderer by helping to meet their needs in our community and beyond, and to meet them as old friends.

Our plan is to expand incrementally, growing from on online presence to a brick and mortar. While our long-term aim is to give 10% of our proceeds to benefit those most in need, we also want to give our community the opportunity to connect with worthy causes around them. To that end, Argos will highlight a different organization or cause each month that our community will be invited to engage with - either by learning more about our greater community or by actively engaging with the organization that speaks to them. 50% of every tip Argos Baking Co. receives will go directly to the San Diego Food Bank to benefit the housing-and-food-insecure members of our community.
